ANOPHELES MICROBIOTA IN MALARIA VECTOR AND THE EFFECT ON PARASITE TRANSMISSION

چکیده

Malaria is a vector-transmitted disease with high number of cases. Plasmodium parasites are transmitted from the body Anopheles mosquito to host through several organs, including salivary glands and midgut. The midgut, apart being breeding ground for parasites, known studies that various types microbiota inhabit these two organs. group bacteria most widely be associated mosquitoes. found were dominated by Gram-negative bacteria, Pseudomonas common, followed Aeromonas, Asaia, Comamonas, Elizabethkingia, Enterobacter, Klebsiella, Pantoea, Serratia. Gram-positive was represented genera Bacillus, Streptococcus, Lactobacillus, Staphylococcus. Each species has different composition bacteria. Anopheles-associated currently receive much attention because their role in fighting infection. ability malaria vector-associated inhibit fight infection divided into three mechanisms. Bacteria can triger an immune response Immune-deficiency (IMD) pathway, which causes active anti-Plasmodium production antimicrobial peptides, increasing ROS synthesis microbiota, trigger hemocyte differentiation protect against Plasmodium. This function related inhibiting development needs further research so later it become option vector-based control without damaging sustainability environment.

Seasonal abundance, vector behavior, and malaria parasite transmission in Eritrea.

Entomological studies were conducted over a 24-month period in 8 villages to establish the behavior patterns, seasonal densities, and variation in entomological inoculation rates (EIRs) of Anopheles arabiensis, the main vector of malaria in Eritrea. A total of 5,683 anopheline mosquitoes were collected through indoor sampling (1,613), human-landing catches (2,711), and outdoor pit shelters (1,3...

The Anopheles Mosquito Microbiota and Their Impact on Pathogen Transmission

An ecosystem is composed of a biological community and its physical environment. A unique ecosystem is the metazoan digestive tract, which contains and interacts with many microor‐ ganisms, e.g. a single human gut contains 1013-1014 bacteria belonging to hundreds of species [4, 5]. These microorganisms are important for the host physiology, particularly in shaping the mucosal immune system [6] ...

Midgut Microbiota of the Malaria Mosquito Vector Anopheles gambiae and Interactions with Plasmodium falciparum Infection

The susceptibility of Anopheles mosquitoes to Plasmodium infections relies on complex interactions between the insect vector and the malaria parasite. A number of studies have shown that the mosquito innate immune responses play an important role in controlling the malaria infection and that the strength of parasite clearance is under genetic control, but little is known about the influence of ...

The Effect of Temperature on Anopheles Mosquito Population Dynamics and the Potential for Malaria Transmission

The parasites that cause malaria depend on Anopheles mosquitoes for transmission; because of this, mosquito population dynamics are a key determinant of malaria risk. Development and survival rates of both the Anopheles mosquitoes and the Plasmodium parasites that cause malaria depend on temperature, making this a potential driver of mosquito population dynamics and malaria transmission. We dev...
